The "Passport of success for visually impaired children and young people" project initiated by the Pontes Association in partnership with the Cluj Napoca Social and Medical Assistance Directorate and the Romanian Orthodox Christian Student Association Cluj Napoca branch aims to reduce inequalities and social exclusion of children and young people with disabilities (visual impairments) through the participatory involvement of local public and private social actors in a medium and long-term sustainable network at the level the community.
The project runs for a period of 18 months at the level of Cluj county, respectively 05.07.2015 – 10.31.2016. The total value of the project is 1,117,802.33 lei, of which 1,004,691.33 lei is non-refundable financing, and 113,111.00 lei is private co-financing.
The target group of the project consists of people:
- 115 children and young people with visual impairments
- 15 parents/teachers of visually impaired children/young people;
- 150 people without visual impairment (children/youth, parents, etc.)
- 24 specialists/decision makers of the public and private sector;
The project aims to:
- Development a network of 24 specialistscarefully chosen from among public and private social actors co-interested in the problem of people with visual impairments, in order to design (4 months) and consistently monitor (14 months) an action plan aimed at reducing the phenomenon of discrimination, at the level of Cluj county .
- Launching a information and awareness campaignsregarding the phenomenon of discrimination of visually impaired people, at the county level. Cluj. The campaign will take place between July 2015 and October 2016, under the concept Listen to the Invisible City.
- The involvement of 115 visually impaired children and young people from Cluj county in mixed activities alongside sighted children and young people, as a means of raising awareness of an initiative to integrate them:
- psychological and vocational counseling with the general objective of developing self-esteem and self-confidence;
- development of independent life skills;
- joint activities with children and young sighted volunteers (camps, excursions, open day, etc.).
