"LAND OF WONDERLAND" DAY CENTER, located in the structure of the Cluj-Napoca Social and Medical Assistance Directorate, is a social assistance unit that offers socio-educational and school and social integration services for children belonging to marginalized categories.

Purpose and Objectives

"Wonderland" Day Center aims to ensure adequate care and education conditions for Roma children of preschool age from the Pata Rât community and the Someșeni neighborhood in order to ensure the integration of children into mainstream education.

Objectives:

  • Preventing the institutionalization of preschool children from the Pata Rât community and the Someșeni neighborhood;
  • Insertion into mainstream education at the time of reaching school age;
  • Facilitating access to kindergartens in the city;
  • Social reinsertion of families;
  • Supporting the family reintegration of children of preschool age;

beneficiary

Categories of beneficiaries:

  • Direct beneficiaries: 38 children of preschool age (3-6 years) who come from the marginalized area of Pata Rât and the Someșeni neighborhood
  • Indirect beneficiaries: their families and the community of Pata Rât and the Someșeni neighborhood.

Selection of beneficiaries:

  • registration application (typed)
  • psychosocial assessment
  • psychopedagogical assessment
  • medical tests for entering the community

Services

Services and activities offered by the center:

  • Providing food and transport
  • Maintenance of personal hygiene
  • Nonformal educational programs
  • Recreational and social activities (excursions, celebrations and hikes)
  • Language recovery
  • Individual and group psychological assistance and counseling for both children and their relatives, for social reintegration

LITERACY TO THE THIRD POWER

Parent-child communication education program through literary activities. Parental involvement in child development.

"Otherwise School" hosted the visit of students from the Traian Dârjan school in the day center, who presented a play for the beneficiaries of the center, distributed gifts and played.
